OPENING NIGHT! March 21 2012!

Preparing to announce all of the dates for WWJF 2012 soon. This is one that is already making press.
Opening Night of the 2nd annual Washington Women in Jazz Festival this March 21st at the Atlas! The performance will feature the "WWJF All-Stars", the finest instrumentalists from last years festival; Sarah Hughes, Alto Saxophone, Melissa Gardiner, Trombone, Leigh Pilzer, Baritone Saxophone, Karine Chapdelaine, Bass, and me, Amy K Bormet on Piano and Vocals. This is a special one-night only show with NYC-based DC-bred drummer Allison Miller. Jazz maestro Brad Linde has put together a serious offering of jazz music to rival any series on the East Coast. The Atlas is proving to be an artistic boon, not just for the H St and DC community, but for the jazz scene of the whole Mid-Atlantic region.

Gearing up for WWJF 2012

Happy New Year! Oh, I'm a week late...Had a great trip to NYC this week for a little thing called JAZZ and now I'm back to DC and ready to run with Washington Women in Jazz Festival 2012. While I finish up the schedule for this years events (hint:every quadrant will be included!) please turn your attention to the inaugural! Young! Artist! Contest!
Applications are due January 31st, so make sure to tell anyone I haven't harassed that they need to get their materials in ASAP! I'm looking forward to checking out all the music I've already been sent. Thanks to Karine Chapdelaine for the fabulous idea to get younger women involved!
